What types of services are available at York Place Community Counseling Center?
Individual, group and family counseling are offered. We also conduct parenting classes and domestic violence prevention courses. There are additional services available to some clients referred through the Department of Social Services or the Department of Mental Health; these include Psychiatric evaluation, medication management, behavior management and family support (in-home services). Please contact the Office Administrator for more information on these services.
When is the center open?
The Counseling Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 5:00. However, evening and weekend appointments are available when necessary to meet the needs of the client.
What if I have an emergency after hours?
In the case of a psychiatric emergency, please contact 911 or go the local emergency room.
I thought York Place only served children, is that true of the Counseling Center too?
York Place Community Counseling Center provides counseling services to people of all ages.
Will my insurance company pay for services at York Place Community Counseling Center?
We are now accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC private insurance..We are a new program and are in the process of becoming approved providers for various other insurance companies. Please contact our office administrator and we will be happy to assist you in order to determine financial payment.
Do you accept Medicaid?
Yes. Please contact our office administrator for additional information on Medicaid services.
Is there a sliding scale for payments?
Yes, in cases where there is financial hardship without Medicaid or other insurance, we will work with you to determine an affordable payment plan.
How often will I receive therapy?
This depends on your particular situation. Initially, most clients are seen weekly. However, it varies according to your individual needs. During the first session a comprehensive assessment is conducted to assist you and your therapist in coming up with an individualized plan of care. This plan of care is basically a road map for your treatment and will guide you and your therapist through the therapeutic process.
