Words From the President

Thank you for taking the time to learn about York Place.  I hope you will feel like I do, this is a special place.  For those of you who are either considering allowing York Place to serve your child's or family's needs, or in the process of receiving our services, my heart goes out to you in these troubling times.  We at York Place make it part of our goals to try and understand each child's and family's barriers to success, and are fully invested in providing the absolute best outcomes possible.

We use the CARE Model developed by Cornell University.  What is CARE?  It is a framework for Creating Conditions for Change.  Children and Residential Experiences (CARE):  Creating Conditions for Change, is designed to support safe environments, strong programmatic elements and a wide variety of treatment programs and interventions that are trauma-sensitive and developmentally appropriate.

What is the Care Practice Model?

CARE is a model designed to guide childcare agencies in establishing practices in the best interests of the child.  The aim of CARE is to bring agencies' currenty practices closer to well-researched best practices in residential care and to help agencies achieve congruence between all levels of staff in order to improve how the agency works as a whole.  Based on six guiding principles, the CARE model is designed to profoundly influence the way residential childcare professionals think about working with children.  Care principles include:  Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Competence Centered, Trauma Informed, and Ecologically Oriented.  We are excited to be fully trained in the model, and are paying close attention to implementation of the model into all of our programs.

So whether we are serving your child here on our campus, or your family in the community or out of our counseling center, we stand behind our mission:

To provide comprehensive, innovative, and effective services, through which God's love, hope, and grace bring emotional and spiritual healing to those we serve, both at our York Place campus and beyond.

For those interested in becoming part of our program, by donating, volunteering, or applying for employment, thank you for your interest in contributing and becoming part of our growing team.  You will be joining an outstanding group of caring people.

As always, if there is anything you need from me, do not hesitate to contact me.

May God bless you,

Marco Tomat
